| Slovakia

Ever since his debut on the stage of the Slovak National Theatre, it was clear that the tenor Peter Dvorský is an artist of exceptional talent. The soloist has interned at the “La Scala” opera theatre in Milan and debuted at the Vienna State Opera in 1977: this marked the start of his international career. Two years later Dvorský debuted at “La Scala” with the role of Rudolfo in “La Bohème”. Soon Dvorský became the most internationally prolific Slovak singer, awaited at the most prestigious concert halls in the world. At the end of the 20th century, Dvorský was regarded as one of the best tenors in the world, equal to such stars as Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. In 1986 the tenor received the prestigious Austrian title of Kammersänger, other more remarkable acclaim followed later. In 2013 he was awarded the First Order of the Slovak Cross for the dissemination of Slovak musical culture across the world. In the same year Dvorský received the Enrico Caruso prize. From 2006 to 2011 the soloist headed the Slovak National Theatre. Currently Mr. Dvorský is a member of the Slovak diplomatic corps in Rome and the head of the Slovak Institute.
