Carolyn Holt is a mezzo-soprano from Ireland. She made her debut in the role of Charlotte in the Lyric Opera Ireland's production of Massenet's Werther at the Dublin National Concert Hall in 2022. For the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden she has performed the role of Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia, and participated in several other productions in 2022-23. She performed the role of Mrs Grose in Britten's The Turn of the Screw for Garsington Opera in July 2022, to great critical acclaim - The Stage wrote "Carolyn Holt plays Mrs Grose with authority and effortlessly effusive vocal power." Previously for Garsington Opera, she has performed the role of Madame Larina in Eugene Onegin as an 'Opera First' Alvarez Young Artist. She sang the role of Sister Helen Prejean in the UK premiere of Dead Man Walking, to critical acclaim. Opera Magazine wrote: “Carolyn Holt’s Sister Helen was impeccably sung, sensitively acted and never less than sincere”. Carolyn is in demand as a soloist throughout the UK and Ireland where critics acclaim her “wonderfully dark, rich tone”.
